Calculating sunlight incident of leaves and/or slopes

Picture
This Excel XLSX file is designed to help students explore how changes in sunlight incident on a surface changes with
  • latitude
  • day of year
  • leaf or slope parameters (angle and azimuth)
  • cloudiness

To help students explore, limited input is required (yellow cells) and output is provided in hourly graphical form, tabular hourly values, and as daily integrated values.

Photoperiod is provided as well, since students should learn that plant phenology and physiology patterns are functions of both incident sunlight and day length.
