What information about monsoons, inter-seasonal precipitation,
and legacy effects of droughts is recorded in tree rings?
In a collaborative project with Russ Monson and colleagues at the Tree Ring Lab at the University of Arizona, the Bill Anderegg and Ehleringer Labs at Utah investigates stable isotope ratio variations in tree rings. The project focused on (a) understanding needle water isotope enrichment and the consequences for organic matter, (b) isotope/xylogenesis data observations and modeling along monsoonal gradients in the southwestern US, (c) legacy effects of drought recorded in tree rings, and (d) temporal/spatial modeling of tree ring isotopes. Steve Kannenberg and Rich Fiorella were postdocs for this project. Click here to view publications arising from this research. |
