This June marked the 20th annual offering of IsoCamp, our international course in stable isotope biogeochemistry and ecology. Here is the gift we received this year from students - complete with a great acronym!
YEAR 35 OF DESERT ENCELIA POPULATION OBSERVATIONS
Working with Darren Sandquist at CSU Fullerton, we have completed year 35 of our annual monitoring of Encelia populations in Death Valley and along the Colorado River. Known as DEPRAVED, this annual field trip is both work and fun.
URBAN RED BUTTE MAP
Will McDonald has completed a 40-cm resolution map of the vegetation of the urban portions of the Red Butte Creek watershed. This map will now allow iUTAH researchers and land managers the capacity to evaluate transpiration, water runoff, and ecological dynamics in the very urbanized watershed. AIR QUALITY ON RAILS
Using Utah's TRAX rail system, Logan Mitchell (postdoc in Lin and Ehleringer Labs) collects air quality and air pollution data in the Salt Lake Valley. In cooperation with the Utah Transit Authority, continuous data of air quality are measured across the valley on the Red Line.
